Failed Rebellion
A year before the Party arrived in the Land of Barovia, The Wizard came to Barovia and riled up the people to rid themselves of Strahd von Zarovich.
The Apprentice, Bodyguard, Merchant, Priest, and many others agreed. Ismark Kolyanovich and Doru included.
Despite the protests of Burgomaster Kolyan Indrovich and Maribel, the mob went to Castle Ravenloft and suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Strahd and Rahadin.
Strahd let some people flee only to hunt them down later. The only known survivors are: Ismark Kolyanovich, Doru (turned into a vampire), and Kreza.
Strahd then used the Failed Rebellion as an excuse to terrorize the Barovia and the Kolyan Manor to reach Ireena.
