Baron Vargas Vallakovich

Burgomaster of Vallaki.

A tyrannical ruler who enforced happiness by punishing unhappiness, forcing attendance to his many festivals, and any mentions of Strahd von Zarovich.

He met with Ismark Kolyanovich and Balthazar Bane to discuss unifying the villages of The Land of Barovia. Vargas suggested adopting their laws but Ismark was hesitant.

Upon seeing Ireena Kolyana, he thought she was Leona Vallakovich. Vargas grow suspicious of Pyrrha and also disliked her effect on Izek.

When he met her the second time following the events of St. Andral's Stolen Bones, Vargas fired Father Lucian for not informing him about the bones and give the party a harsh punishment for breaking Vallaki's laws. His mother's soul took over Ireena and scolded him for being a tyrant like his father. Vargas lessened their sentences and let them be.

On the Festival of the Burning Sun Vargas spoke with Pyrrha about getting along all together for Izek's sake. Vargas then hired Pyrrha Strazni has the new high priest and ordered for Milivoj and Henrik van der Voort to be executed. But Pyrrha did not listen and spared them.

When the party was away, Vargas had Ireena kidnapped so he could keep his mother safe.

On the Beasts' Head Jamboree Vargas had Henrik executed and was going to rehire Father Lucian, but he was knocked out by Drake. After being knocked out he was killed and turned into a vampire by Strahd.

Strahd then led him to the Vallakovich Manor so he could show Leona Vallakovich that he killed Vargas. Finally, the party killed Vargas.
